Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How will the remap affect my fuel consumption?

A : Depending on what your requirements are and your driving style depends on what your fuel economy will be.

If you go for an out right maximum power output and drive it as so, you can expect to see it decrease as it would without the map. If you get the map to increase torque low down and drive conservatively then it is likely that fuel economy will improve. In a Diesel to an extent you control the amount of fuel injected with your right foot. The Overall consumption is governed by the average RPM over a Journey. With more torque you can stay in a higher gear for longer and so maintain a lower journey RPM and improve economy.

Q: How will the remap affect the longevity of my engine?

AOur stage 1 Reprogramming is designed to work inside the safety margin imposed by the manufacturer and we retain the standard ecu temperature limits etc.

In the case of petrol turbo cars as we richen the mixture , we reduce the thermal load on the engine over the stock setting for the same boost pressures etc.

For those who want even more power, we have some cars also stages 2 and 3 are available, this approach does have a number of potential risks related to longevity.

Q: Can it be reversed?

A: The beauty of the remap is that this process is completely reversible without any trace, therefore if within 14 days you want it changed back, we will carry it out free of charge with a full refund. If after 14 days you wish to reverse it then there is no charge for the process but NO REFUND will be given unless there is a specific issue arising from a fault associated with the remap itself.

Q: I intend to make further modifications...?

A: Again, let us know what your planning so we can advise the best way forward and can even offer great package deals on other performance upgrades.

Q: Is remapping better then chipping or Tuning Boxes?

A: OBD remapping is the modern technique replacing chipping. It reads and writes on your ECU via the OBD port this is still reprogramming the chip but in a safer better way. Tuning boxs work only to either increase injection duration or rail pressure. More advanced systems also increase boost pressure. Cheap and simple tuning boxs do nothing more than fool your ECU or trick the pressure sensor on the fuel rail into lifting the pressure beyond acceptable levels. We alter thirty plus maps on some vehicles to achieve the proper results ensuring reliable smooth performance which works hand in hand with the Engine Managements Diagnostic Systems. This is the best method for a complete and proper tune.

Q: What if I want to sell my car?

A: If you wish to sell the car with the map on then no problem, if you wish to have it reversed back to standard after a period of time then again no problem.

Usually there is no charge.

Q: What about my insurance?

A: This is up to you. We have to advise that you inform your insurance companies that the remap has been carried out but it is extremely difficult to detect. Ultimately it is your responsibility.

Q: What warranty do you give?

A: We provide 5 years warranty on the proper functioning of our software.

  • We guarantee our promised power increase of the reprogramming if the engine is in good condition.
  • We give 5 year free new software if you get an update from the dealer.
  • We provide 5 years warranty that we put the car back to original if desired (eg sales).
  • We guarantee an individual adjustment and thorough diagnosis of each car.
  • We guarantee that the Software was developed by us by one of our qualified engineers.
  • We give two weeks no quibble money back guarantee ( an installation fee will apply where there is no specific fault)  Note: A specific fault does not include clutch slip on any vehicle with over 100,000 miles on the original clutch.

Q: How long do you need the car for?

A: After an appointment is made, most cars take about 2-3 hours of work, this varies a lot from car to car because we adjust each car individually and often do this several times before the result is perfect. We do not release the car if we are not satisfied. You are welcome to stay in our waiting area while we carry out the work.

Q: Will My Car pass the MOT when Remapped?

A: All of our conversions are monitored for smoke emissions. Particularly in the 2003 onwards vehicles which have to adhere to more stringent limits.

Your car should have no problem in passing the test unless there is something wrong with the vehicle at the time. If you do have a problem we can advise.

If you have a decat pipe for example you may have a problem. Contact for advice.
